SUMMER BABY MONITORS

Question by rawr x3: Is there any way to prevent my cell phone conversations from being picked up on the baby monitor?
Sometimes people call me at night and my conversations get picked up by the baby monitor in my parents room. Is there any way to keep this from happening? I’d rather not them hear some of the stuff me and my friends talk about. They keep the monitor on all night and I can’t turn it off.

The only way it so not talk on a cordless or cell phone, get one of those phones that connect to the wall and have that horrible cord. I had the same problem with my neighbor, she was always listening to my phone calls and would mention stuff when we would talk, it was annoying!

Question by Seila: Can I monitor the temperature of a room from a different one?
We just moved into our first house and just started wondering if I could monitor the temperature of my baby’s room from the living room.

We have a 2 story home so I would like to know if there’s a way to know the temperature of the room without going upstairs and disturbing her sleep in the middle of the night. Maybe like a wireless thermometer where I have the sensor in her room but the temperature display somewhere else??? Does something like that exist? What is it called?

We are barely getting to know the house this is why I don’t know (yet) how her room feels.

YES,
About $ 12 thermometer with RF transmitter normally used to monitor outside temp by wireless transmitter. Battery Operated.
I got one at Wally World (Walmart)
Just put the remote transmitter in that room. They are digital read out.

Question by ~Mommy of 2boys & 1girl~: Can you detect more then one fetal heart rate from same baby?
I went to L&D last night for slight early contractions. I am 23 weeks along and have a problem with preterm labor. I am on meds and I do see an extra doc for it also. Ok so when the nurse was looking for him with the monitor she kept saying the one she found was the placenta. But it was loud and strong like a heartbeat. My nurse I have said its a slow swish sound, which this was not. The after trying for 30 min to get it she got another nurse to try. She she came in and found a heartbeat in lower right side of my tummy, where as the other nurse found what sounds like a beat at top left.

Hope this was not to long. But could that be an extra baby or can you hear the baby heart in 2 different parts of the tummy, that are not close at all. Thank you!!
Also the first heart rate it picked up at the top was 143-152, the second one at the bottom was 145-155.

When the doctor was looking for my baby’s heartbeat at my check-up last month, she heard two but told me that the faster, louder heartbeat was my own.

Have had an ultrasound since and yes, there is only ONE BABY in there, LOL. She kind of had me wondering.

Question by Critic C: How do you stop a baby monitor from making a buzzing sound?
I have an ‘Angel Care’ monitor and often it seems to buzz loudly when I have electrical appliances plugged in or lights on – it seems to be effected by the electrical current of my house.
I turn all the lights off at night and leave nothing plugged in, but sometimes it still buzzes and is very annoying when I am trying to get to sleep.

Take it back and get a different one. Otherwise you’ll have to live with it, unless of course you want to live in the dark! I”m a fan of Graco and Safety first. GL!

My friend gave me hers. I was wondering how long people use them. Also-what all does it monitor and how do you set it up? She did not have her booklet. Does it produce many false alarms>

I have that exact one! It’s pretty good as long as you don’t set it to detect motion. Every night we turned it to “sound and movement” it would go off and I’d RUN in there and he’d just be snoozing away breathing heartily. I don’t know if it’s cause mine was a hand me down as well or what.

We just use it for the sound now, and that fine.

You set it up by placing the pad under the mattress in the center, you run the cord directly down to the ground, not across and off the side. (did that make sense?) then the monitor has to be as far away from the crib as possible (maybe that’s why we get false alarms, his room isn’t very big) and you plug it in and you should be good to go.

Question by Linds: Can you recommend a baby monitor (preferably a video monitor) that works from very long distances?
We just moved into a new house where our master bedroom is completely on the opposite side of the house from our son’s room. The moniter that we have now works only sporadically (most of the time it flashes “out of range”). I really need one that will work well! It probably doesn’t help that our bedroom is converted from the old garage, so there are literally 2 brick walls between our room and our son’s room. Please help! Thank you!

I have a Mobi and it works great in my house. My house isn’t huge but I can be upstairs and my daughter’s room is downstairs on the other side of the house and it is clear. During the day the pic is in color, but turns to black and white at night. The only static has been when we have it too close to our remote controls and cell phones. It will get fuzzy but we move the items and it is fine.

Not sure if it will work between brick walls, but I have been out in our garage on my treadmill and had no problem.

I have a Fisher Price 900 MHZ and we have a wifi network and have zero interference.
