Shared Bedrooms ? 3 Golden Rules That Help Toddler and Baby Stay Happy Together

Posted in Baby Monitors For Twins on January 14th, 2011 by Andrew – Be the first to comment

Are you worried about your decision of shared bedrooms for your toddler and baby?

Your first born has taken his first steps towards independence, and you’ve decided to welcome another little baby. If your second baby is due while you are still potty training and running after your first, you are allowed to feel overwhelmed.

Decorating the nursery is always a fun experience…as you have the liberty to do what you want with it. However, if the idea is of <b>shared bedrooms for both, your toddler and baby</b>, there will be some key points you need to be aware of.

Relax and ease those palpitations. Decorating a space that is equally appropriate for both baby and toddler can be a wonderful experience. All you need to do is Remember these Three Golden Rules for shared kids room design.

Golden Rule 1: Make the Room Safe

Safe for Baby – If you plan to re-use your first-born’s baby crib, check it for any damages and wear or tear. Invest in a good baby monitor to help you keep track of happenings while you are out of the room. A mosquito net helps keep the bugs out, and stops your toddler from throwing toys in or climbing in himself. Your baby will soon start copying his older sibling. All toys bought for the toddler must be baby safe too.
Safe for Toddler – Whether shopping for a toddler or twin bed for the shared bedrooms, pay special attention to the safety rails. Remember, he can now reach new heights. Even the décor hung or kept at baby safe distance now need to be moved farther away. He can climb onto the rocking chair – keep it away from the windows and keep the windows barred when you leave the room.

Golden Rule 2: Make the Room Bright, Cheerful and Lots of Fun

Fun for the Toddler – He has had everything to himself…until now. In the midst of the excitement of the newborn, don’t let him feel neglected. Include him in the decorating process. Make it a fun adventure, buy some new furniture pieces for him – a small table and chair set are a perfect fit. Fun accessories will make the room a place your toddler would love to spend time in…and reduce any resentment towards the new baby.
Fun for the Baby – A soft area rug that defines the baby space (and another for the toddler of course) can be chosen in the theme for the room. Giving the space 2 distinct looks for each of the occupants in the shared bedrooms, gives each a personal sense of belonging – their own private space. To create harmony between the two themes a common kids mural can be painted or stuck on.

Golden Rule 3: Solve Conflicts in a Cool but Firm Manner

Calming a Cranky Baby – Babies will cry…especially when they need their sleep. You should talk to your toddler and explain his responsibilities as an older sibling. Don’t expect him to understand and obey at all times though. If he doesn’t sleep on time, either during naptimes or at night, let the baby sleep in your room. Once they are both asleep, shift the baby to his crib.
Calming a Cranky Toddler – Used to being the center of your world, the toddler can get quite irritable when he wants attention but you are busy with the baby. Expect some ups and downs as both kids try to settle down and adapt to the new situation. Keep your cool and keep persevering…the kids will eventually learn to enjoy each other’s company.

The trend for young children to share bedrooms (a common trend in many countries around the world) is gaining popularity here in the west. Children not only adapt quickly to each other, they grow closer and enjoy a deep bond that later physical separation also cannot break.

So go ahead and chalk out your plans for that lovely nest to be shared by your toddler and baby…and as the bumps begin to smoothen out, you will see your kids spend more time together and soon leave you in peace (and planning your next baby, perhaps?).

There are many more tips and ideas to help decorate the shared bedrooms of your toddler and baby. Want examples of kids room themes for shared spaces?

Baby monitors are a true help for deaf parents

Posted in Vibrating Baby Monitor on January 11th, 2011 by Andrew – Be the first to comment

One of the last things a parent would think about when they are woken up by their newborn, is that their crying is special.  The situation is very different for any deaf parent out there.  When you are not able to hear your baby then it can be a very discouraging experience.  One concern is that it also puts your child`s safety at risk.  The good thing is that technology has advanced so far that there are baby monitors for deaf parents.

When a baby will need attention the parents are able to monitor it with a baby monitor.  When a noise is detected in the baby`s room the transmitter send the signal to the receiver, which is a mobile hand held device carried by the parents.

Even of the parents are at the opposite side of the house they should not have any trouble to hear the monitor.  Baby monitors acts as an extension of a parents hearing or visual range.  Any parent with hearing difficulties can also rest assure that their child is properly monitored.   These devices are made to allow it to be done.

Special Features

When caring for an infant, parents which are hearing impaired are faced with more difficult challenges than hearing parents.  Given that they have to cater to all the child`s needs they still have to deal with the fact that they are not able to hear their own baby`s cries.

Mostly of the baby monitors that are made for parents with hearing difficulties are made with a vibrating alarm and/or a flashing light alarm.  These extra features alert the parent every time the baby requires some attention.

A few monitors also has the capability to alert the parents when the baby is crying.  A certain model has a receiver that has two main parts, which is a clock and a small sound sensor.  It is the work of the main clock to work as the sound alarm and it is connected to a vibrating rod.The rod is then placed underneath the mattress of the parents.  Every time the child cries the alarms system activates, the rod then vibrates and wakes up the parents.

Many of the baby monitors even have LCD screens that allows you to watch your baby.  This is very valuable to deaf parents as this allows them to monitor the baby with no trouble at all.

Aspects To Consider Before Buying A Baby Monitor

Jumping out and grabbing the most expensive baby monitor is not always the best idea.  You should first figure out what features you really want your baby monitor to have and then buy the one which best fits those needs.  Some people might consider buying a baby monitor a grudge purchase, but remember that you cannot put a price on your child`s  safety.

When buying a baby monitor you should also consider portability.  If you are a parent that are busy around the house the whole day then it would be the best to choose a baby monitor that you can carry around with you.

Baby monitors are there to give deaf parents the same security as any other parent.   There are a huge selection of baby monitors on the market that you could choose from.   There are more than enough reviews online that can help you to make an informed choice.   It is one of the best purchases I ever made.

Question by Kimberly: please help me change the words so it wont look plagiarized?
In this essay I will discuss a S.T.D known as the Herpes Simplex virus which is the leading cause of human viral disease; it is second to influenza and cold viruses. They are capable of causing overt diseases or remaining silent for many years only to be reactive. The name herpes come from the Latin herpes which comes from a Greek word, herpien which means creep. The information was found at http://pathmicro.med.sc.edu/virol/herpes.htm . This word reflects the creeping or spreading nature of the skin lesions caused by many herpes virus types. There are at least 25 viruses in the family herpes Herpesviridae. Eight or more herpes types are known to infect man frequently. About one million new cases are reported every year. Millions more likely go unreported. Herpes can be contracted through sexual contact and in some cases by kissing, oral-genital contact, and even with the use of sex toys.

There are two types of herpes simplex viruses and it is important to know the difference between the two. Herpes simplex virus 1 – First type affects the lips and causes sores known as fever blisters or cold sores .Oral herpes, which infects the face and mouth. Oral herpes is the most common form of infection. Herpes simplex virus 2,-Genital herpes is the second common form of herpes. Herpes will appear as blisters. Herpes are most easily transmitted by direct contact with a lesion or the body fluid of an infected person. Herpes can also be transmitted through physical direct skin contact; About 500,000 Americans are diagnosed each year with the herpes virus. There are more than 80 known forms of the herpes but only eight can affect humans. Genital Herpes is very easily passed from one infected person to an uninfected person during intercourse. If Genital Herpes is left untreated, the healing process is slowed down and can also spread to other parts of the body. If left untreated in people whose immune systems don’t work properly the virus can last a long time and cause more problems.
The most commonly infected areas are moist areas of the mouth, anus, vagina, penis, or the eyes. Both types can easily spread while having oral sex. Once someone has been infected with the virus, they will go through different stages. Latent stage- During this stage, there are no blisters, sores or other symptoms. The virus is now traveling from your spine. Shedding stage- In this stage the virus starts to multiply in the nerves. It can also get into body fluids, such as saliva, semen, or vaginal fluids. There are no symptoms during this stage virus can spread during this time. Recurrences- What may cause blisters and sores to come back after the first herpes attack may be stress, being sick or being tired. Being in the sun or having your menstrual period may also cause a recurrence. This information found at http://www.xherpes.com/herpes/herpes-stages.php .

Neonatal herpes simplex – is the term used when a baby develops symptoms of herpes infection before he or she is born or within the first 6 weeks of life. It may occur when the baby is still in the womb .The estimated rate of neonatal herpes is one case in 2,000-5,000 deliveries a year, resulting in approximately 1,500 to 2,200 infants with the disease each year in the United States. Infants that are born with mothers who have a new infection near the time of delivery, the risk for neonatal herpes is around 30%. The risk for transmission in infants born to mothers with known genital herpes and is very low (less than 1%).
At least 4 factors increase the risk of transmission of infection from mother to the fetus, the mother has primary or initial infection during pregnancy .The mother has no HSV antibodies at delivery .Prolonged rupture of membranes (>6 hours) (ascending infection). The use of fetal scalp monitors. Fever temperature equal to or less than 38.0° C in the neonatal period less than 30 days can be an important because of the cause of severe infection due to the immaturity of the neonatal immune system. This information was found at http://www.herpesguide.ca/facts/neonatal_herpes.html.
Things that can increase the risk of transmission of the virus to the infant from mother included the presence of HSV in the mother’s cervix, the use of monitoring devices during labor and delivery, and premature delivery, before 38 weeks. Mothers who are under the age of 21 or are experiencing their first episode of HSV infection are more likely to pass the virus along to their child. The baby is safe when in the uterus. When the baby passes through the birth canal, it may come in contact with sores and become infected with the herpes virus. The best thing to do is to inform your physician on your pregnancy and also your condition overall.

Prevention is hard if it is unsure whether the sexual partner has Herpes or not. It is possible to prevent the spreading of herpes to others. There are usually early warning signs before a breakout happens, such as tingling, burning

The best way to handle this is to read and know the content thoroughly, and then set it aside. Take a 5 minute break, and then come back to your work and do NOT look at the source document. Make your own topic outline, and write your own report. Then — and not before — you can double check to be sure you haven’t inadvertently mis-stated some facts. The point is that you need distance between your source document and your own writing! Merely adjusting text from the source document is not enough — you need YOUR writing!

Q&A: Boyfriend, jail, problems, law, help?

Posted in Multiple Room Baby Monitor on January 5th, 2011 by Andrew – 2 Comments

Question by RoTTenKoRn: Boyfriend, jail, problems, law, help?
The last few guys i’ve dated have been messy.
2 of them died resulting from 1 car crash and 1 who was hit by a car while we were walking home.
The next one cheated on me and got 3 girls pregnant and expected me to take care of his kids. Then I dated a psycho for 2 years who would never let me leave him and go through attempted suicide multiple times. One particular night he shot himself in the hand while i was trying to take his gun away.
So then I met another guy and he basically tried to change me.
But I never realized the one guy who would treat me with the most respect was from my own friendship. I’ve liked my best friend for years [we met in alternative school when I was a bad kid back then. I've cleaned up, raised my grades, and become a good kid. No drugs involved now in my life.]
I was there all through his relationship issues. One of them was a psychotic bitch. He lived in his own apartment and i’d often come over and play on his xbox because I didn’t have one and I was addicted to fable. One night they got in a drunk fight and she was punching him but refused to hit back. He decided he was going to leave and go to his mom’s. So while I packed some of the stuff I brought over, he went to go back his clothes. She wouldn’t let him leave and eventually he got through his room and she locked herself in the bathroom. While I tried to talk to her, she beat the living fuck out of herself and then called 911. We called for a ride back, unknowing of the police coming. Well when the police finally came..since at the time Joe [the guy who is trying to leave the house] was 18 and I was 16, and he was drunk, luckily I was clean. The police arrested him and after his girlfriend lied and said that he hit her [which he didn't but they still took him in for being drunk and underage.]. He was put on a ankle monitor that reads sweat and tells the alcohol level in his system.
So for the last months with this girl, she put him through hell. She got pregnant and then threw herself down a set of stairs and purposely did everything she could to abortion the baby. We found out in the end that this baby didn’t even belong to Joe in the first place. It was her ex boyfriend’s baby.
So he finally broke up with her..
A year later, after cleaning up and being good and clean he and i started dating. Well, he does have a alcohol problem, he tries to stay away from beer.
a few nights ago he finally gave in and drank a beer. But his monitor went off and he had to go to jail. I live in Ohio. The last time He went to jail for drinking he stayed for 30 days.
The police there hate his family [various reasons] but Joe is a really good guy. He’s supported me all my life of knowing him and he’s always put me first. He tries to make me happy as possible and be happy for me. His family is a bit fucked though.
Everyone is a alcoholic in that family and they all do drugs except for Joe now. They always fight and beat the hell outta each other. Joe is now 19. I am now 17.
Well he drank and now he’s in jail. Since he was in trouble last time [but it was a long time ago] how long do you think he will be staying in there because I cant afford the phone thing that goes with making calls between jail and him and I have to wait a few weeks to get the address where he’s at so I can write him.
Help for anything else? something?
Ok I know he seems like a bad guy but he really cleaned himself up. Me and him both did together.
I just want to know how long will he be in jail. I don’t want answers that say “start over” or “go gay” or “you meet bad people”….
I just want to know ..in ohio..how long do you think he will stay?

I think I’m depressed and I need HELP! :/?

Posted in Multiple Room Baby Monitor on January 2nd, 2011 by Andrew – 3 Comments

Question by CreoleBiologyMajor: I think I’m depressed and I need HELP! :/?
Okay, so here’s the deal:

In September, I learned that I was 2 months pregnant. By October, my baby was fully miscarried. Throughout the previous 3-4 years, I have been in and out of moods. Sometimes I was happy, sometimes very upset. However, after the miscarriage, I have been down on school, relationships, and life in general. I am a Biology/pre-med major who would call my mother to ask permission to skip class out of sheer guilt. But lately, the guilt feelings have diminished–which I know is a VERY bad sign in college–and I have been skipping multiple classes a week. Not only that, but I don’t complete homework assignments and have been failing quite a few of my classes. When I need to study or do research online, I find myself staring at the computer screen and wondering off to other websites for hours.I’m allwaaays drowsy. To make matters worse, I am sometimes unable to sleep–and when I am finally sleepy, I decide to stay up and watch TV/get on the internet (and it also doesn’t help that my roommate is the bride of Chucky). My friends have become increasingly distant. They claim that I may have postpartum depression, which could possibly be true. However, instead of them visiting and checking to see how I’m doing, it seems as if they have chosen the path of letting me ride things out myself, and they are less sympathetic and understanding when my actions (ignoring calls, being unenthusiastic) reflect my emotions.

In response to my pain during the miscarriage, my doctor prescribed me Oxycodon, which is a miracle pain reliever. I took my pills as recommended, but in my bouts of depression, I would take 2 at a time. It eventually increased to 3 pills, and then I would combine those with my macroadenoma medication (Cabergoline). It got so bad to the point that my boyfriend would have to stay in my room and monitor my health to ensure that I didn’t pass out on the floor. SN: Although I ran out a month ago, I’m still craving that Oxy…. I have gained about 15-20 pounds because of my bond to Southern cuisine and fast food. I find myself eating when I’m not even hungry. Like now, I’m eating Garrett’s popcorn, and I ate an entire foot-long sub, two cookies, and a bag of chips for dinner. I guess you could say I’m a calf, training to be a full grown COW.

I have had several episodes of guilt, triggered by the smallest of situations, all ending in tears. I would breakdown in the car at the mall parking lot, my dorm room…My emotions do not discriminate in location. I am overwhelmed with the stresses of sorority life as well, which demands much of my time, most of which I do not have because of my classes. As the 2nd VP, Representative, and Financial Secretary, I have a lot of responsibility. Lately, I have been losing the respect of my sisters because of my lack of initiative and interest in activities.

Now, the semester is coming to an end. I am currently in the process of applying to med schools. I fear that my grades will be terrible, and that I will lose my academic scholarship, which determines whether or not I will stay at an out-of-state school. This is my senior year, so I can’t afford to mess up, but I guess that’s a little too late, huh?

My question is this: what do I do now? I am known to be spontaneous and charismatic, but I am completely drained! I figure I should see a doctor, but I don’t want to waste my time if they are just going to diagnose my problems as “the blues”. Are there alternative methods to dealing with my issues besides counseling, such as vitamins? Lol, maybe I should have chosen psychology instead of pre-medicine as my major so I could understand myself better!

i got one and used it like, 5 times. trust me, you will hear your baby cry, unless the baby’s room is on a different floor of your house. if you want one for peace of mind, buy a cheap one ($ 20-$ 30), put batteries in it, but keep the box…if you don’t use it or don’t like it, return it and get your money back or get what you want

I need help with my home wireless network!?

Question by Alicia: I need help with my home wireless network!?
I have a large house (400+ sq. ft.). I have 3 computers wired to my Netgear WNR2000 wireless router. I have DSL access through AT&T. Both the DSL router and the Netgear router are as high up as possible, but are sitting with all of the computer equipment next to a wall with endless amounts of electrical cords. I have a cordless phone operating on the DECT 6.0 frequency. I have 2 baby monitors, but both are operating on such low frequencies, I can’t imagine they are interfering. (???) My signal is fine in the office where all of the wired computers are, however, in our den (2 rooms over), we can rarely get a signal on our laptops (or with my iTouch or Droid). There are really only 2 partial walls in between the den and the office, but still, we can rarely connect. Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

Q&A: HELP! I need to know what this means for me and my baby. What should I expect to happen?

Posted in Compare Baby Monitors on December 4th, 2010 by Andrew – 1 Comment

Question by Cloe’s Mom!!!: HELP! I need to know what this means for me and my baby. What should I expect to happen?
Here’s what they told me. I have one healthy baby growing in the right place that is six weeks seven days. But, they also told me that there was some bleeding, but it wasn’t coming from that baby but an adjacent area.. but that it was normal to see a little bleeding from women of larger weight and small frame. BUT, then they said that there was another problem. There is something in my tube. They think it may be a second baby developing in the tubes. They try to tell me not to panic and said that it could be a cyst or fibroid. But, they told me that if it is a fibroid that it could be strealing nutrients that the healthy baby needs. The baby growing in the normal place has a normal heart beat and they said normal developmental features. So, they refered me to a specialist. They wouldn’t tell me what he would do about it. All they said is that they have to monitor the tubal growth and compare it to fedal growth.

So, what happens if what they’re seeing in the tubes is an eptiotic pregnancy?

What happens if it’s a fybroid or a cyst?

Is the bleeding really normal?

What is going to happen?

What can I do to make this pregnancy healthy and last? I’m resting, eating right, siting as often as I can at work, and trying to do all the right things.

Slow down. Do your research. Listen carefully to the doctors. Bleeding can be normal in the begining. There are a lot of variables here. Good luck and say your prayers.
